The Petrochemical Complex has made available its 14-acre ground in the centre of Holbury to the community for several years.

As part of its long-term commitment to enriching the communities it serves, it is placing this support on a firm foundation through the provision of new long-term rent free leases, enabling the residents, football, cricket, bowls and tennis clubs to plan for their future and to enable funding opportunities from external agencies.

The Fawley site has also contributed £200,000 to help fund new changing and toilet facilities, which will be used by Fawley Association Football Club (AFC) during the winter months and Fawley Cricket Club (CC) in the summer.

Furthermore, ExxonMobil has agreed to contribute to the clubs’ gas, electricity, and water costs, providing the clubs with a solid foundation to become self-sufficient.

There are discussions also underway to place the site’s community garden under the care of Fawley Parish Council, with the aim to open conversations with local residents to define its purpose and ensure the space is used to its maximum potential.

Scott Johnston, Commercial Director, Fawley AFC and Fawley CIC said: “We are extremely grateful to ExxonMobil for providing this vital head start, which will help us lay the foundation for a long-term, sustainable future.

“While there is still a long journey ahead, this support is a crucial step towards developing facilities that will benefit players for generations to come.”

“This is a fantastic recreational space which we hope will benefit residents of the Holbury and Waterside areas for years to come, said Nick Bone, ExxonMobil Fawley Site Manager.

“This initiative reflects ExxonMobil Fawley’s dedication to community spirit, aiming to create somewhere where people can enjoy themselves, stay healthy, and be part of something positive.’’
