Colin and Fran celebrate 60 years of marriage

On 7 September, 2023 annuitant Colin Duckworth and his wife Fran celebrated their Diamond wedding. They marked the occasion with friends in Spain where they live for 12 weeks each year, before returning to the UK to celebrate with family. The couple were delighted to receive a personally signed card from Their Majesties, the King and Queen, in recognition of their 60 years of marital bliss.

Colin joined Mobil Oil Company Ltd in 1969 and during his long career, he worked for Mobil in Retail Investment from the Head Office in Victoria. He also had an office in Manchester, from where he covered the North of England on the acquisition of real estate properties for workshops and petrol filling stations. In 1981, Colin left the company and subsequently established his own company along with Fran, which is still thriving today.

Speaking to Newsline, Colin said: “Our successful marriage for 60 years has been about working hard as individuals, recognising each other’s strengths and bringing up two wonderful and successful children.”
