Specialist journalists report on FAST progress following Fawley visit

In early April we hosted four specialist senior journalists from influential business and sector media to learn more about our FAST investment (see report in last issue) and the benefits it will deliver, both for the Fawley site and the UK as a whole.

Each of them has reported on the oil industry and refining for several years, but only one had visited a refinery before, so their visit provided a great opportunity to increase their understanding of operations at the UK’s largest refinery and petrochemical plant.

The resulting coverage highlighted how FAST enables Fawley to better meet today’s demand for diesel while also giving us greater operational flexibility to pivot production should the demand profile change through the energy transition.

All were overwhelmingly positive about the investment and the large project capabilities of ExxonMobil.

The visit was led by Nick Bone, Fawley manager and Brian Talley, FAST project manager. Nick says: “It was good to meet these specialist journalists face-to-face and to give them an update on FAST. Their detailed knowledge of the industry was clearly evident from their questions, and they all appreciated the chance to visit Fawley and see the FAST project as it progresses to completion.”

The journalists’ reports were carried on a syndicated basis in many other publications worldwide, so have been viewed by a wide global audience, helping to demonstrate Fawley’s resilient strategy for the future.
