Thousands enjoy Fawley Fun Day at Beaulieu
Organised by the ‘we are Fawley’ team, the Fun Day included free entry to the museum and grounds as well as plenty of entertainment and activities organised especially for the guests. From the Red Bull F1 simulators to circus performers and photo booths, there was something for everyone to enjoy, not to mention a free lunch, drinks, and delicious ice-cream!
The children had a wonderful time getting creative too. Together, they painted a new piece of art called ‘Forever Fawley’, which is now displayed in Fawley’s conference centre. Meanwhile, in a marquee, information boards telling the story of the Fawley site over the years were displayed to commemorate its 70th anniversary in 2021. The images brought back many happy memories for local families whose relatives have worked there over the years.
A respectful book of condolences for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was opened for people to sign, as the nation mourned her passing and reflected on her life of public service.
Riccardo Cavallo, the Fawley Refinery Manager and Nick Bone, Chemical Plant Manager welcomed people to the event and thanked everyone for their efforts over the past few years. They welcomed the news that the FAST project has restarted and reflected on the 70th Anniversary before closing with a special vote of thanks to the loved ones who support all of those who work at the Fawley site.
The Fun Day was organised by a small committee led by Louise Leavy, Fawley Organisational Development Manager. She said: “Having spent the past six months bringing the event to fruition, it was fantastic to see everyone get together to enjoy themselves. I’d like to thank all those involved in making it happen behind the scenes.”
The Fun Day was part of a wider programme of activities being delivered to help create a new sense of community at Fawley Site following the challenges of the past couple of years. If you are based at Fawley, watch out for email notifications of future activities.
