Christine bakes a difference!

Despite the pandemic, Christine Moran, Company Secretary Co-ordinator, has continued to support good causes at Leatherhead, and has managed to run two cake sales that went down even during lockdowns!

In March last year, Christine baked the cakes, but a lockdown intervened and there was no-one in the office to buy them. Nevertheless Leatherhead staff showed their support with plenty of charitable donations, so Comic Relief received a cheque for £741 (smashing the target of £250). Leatherhead Samaritans gratefully received the cakes. Christine was astonished by the incredible generosity of those who donated so much money and didn’t even receive a cake!

Later in the year, when the office re-opened, the cake sale for BBC Children In Need received £300 and on this occasion many people were back at Ermyn House and so received a cake!

Since 2011, over £10,000 has been raised from cake sales, but Christine insists she is only the facilitator – and the success is also down to the incredible generosity of staff who give their time and talents to bake and to those who donate the money.

This year’s Red Nose Day cake sale will be held in Leatherhead on Wednesday 23 March, with funds going to help charities supporting people in desperate need right now in the Ukraine.

The total raised so far stands at £1,139.
